Where it all began. Brownsea, August 1907

Robert Baden-Powell, during his career as a commander and instructor, had the opportunity to interact with many young people, observing how they particularly benefited from outdoor activities. In 1907, he organized the first experimental scout camp on Brownsea Island, drawing important pedagogical insights from it. Just two years later, eleven thousand children attended the first gathering.
